Written Affair : The Day You Walked Away

The Day You Walked Away, is a poem about two lovers who had to part ways because of some unavoidable circumstances. Both of them hated doing it, but it was the demand of the time... Puppets of fate, they part ways, with heavy hearts, but being able to do nothing about it...

I can't forget that night when
You were there standing beside me,
Saying that you have got something
That you want to tell me...
The words were so very harsh
You knew it would hurt me...
But we had to face the truth
Although it was difficult for you and for me!

You looked at me
And I looked at you
We wanted to say something to ease the pain
But that was what we couldn't do...
We walked our last walk together
On that deserted road
Our hearts were aching
There was too much of the load!

I took your hand in mine
And you turned towards me
You saw the fear in my eyes
Tears too you could see!

We both cried for hours
And sat holding each other
And remembered those days
We spent together
Talking and walking
Laughing all the while...
Those were the days
When we had been truly blessed!

Last thing I remember
Is you walking away
Leaving me behind
I was thinking of someway -
I wanted to stop you...
I tried calling you...
But you never heard me
You just kept walking farther and away
Leaving me behind
With tears in my eyes!!

It was a bittersweet journey. Almost three years into our marriage, we started thinking about starting a family, I had my health issues to take care of, my college was about to end, I was running around for placements, clearing all levels before the HR round, facing rejection because I was a married woman. Amidst all this, I had started my treatment for Thyroid and PCOD. And because of these issues, I knew conceiving might not be easy for me and some medical intervention might be required. My gynaec wanted to run some tests but they had to be done on certai

India saw sati pratha and it sees female infanticide and but it has also given birth to women like Rani Lakshmibai, Kiran Bedi and Chanda Kochar. We have often heard the saying that behind every successful man is a woman who supports him. But today the dimensions are changing and in 2017, successful is a word that is associated not only with men, but women too - because today women are not content with ju

We bonded over our shared love for our children and motherhood. Each of them, had fought and conquered their fears, challenges, obstacles and every single one of them had come out stronger than before. I dedicate this post to each one of them... I also recently, found my girl gang, we bonded over our love for reading. But each day, that I have known them - I have thanked God, for this group of friends - the booktroverts gang. Each of them has shown strength in their own way, we
