BOOK BLURB:
Misha is a make up artist who, after a series of mishaps and twists and turns, falls madly in love with Akshay who reciprocates her love with ardour. The only hitch in this perfect romance is her prospective sister-in-law who thinks Misha is everything a Bahu shouldn’t be: garrulous, geeky, gawky, gainfully employed (especially the last bit). The questions is will Misha win Didi (and the Kha-Pee Panchayat) over with her Stepford Wife Act? Will she continue to be the poster child for the inherent evils of the Bahu Brigade? Or will she learn to ‘lau’ herself before the whole world and its wife can do the same?

RATING: 3 ☆'s

REVIEW:
First of I would like to thank the author for the review copy in exchange for an honest review and would also like to extend my gratitude for waiting patiently for the review to come.
Coming to the book, the blurb is not too catchy and doesn't sound promising but once you dive into the book, it strucks with most of the right chords. So here's what I feel about the book -

WHAT I LOVED:
  1. Overall Feel --- the whole book reads in such a fun and quirky manner that it tickled me all right and I was in splits laughing my head off even during the 'break-up, phase. I think, more than the romance, it was the comedy of the 'romantic comedy' that I loved in the book.
  2. Psycho-Analysis --- even though this part comprises of only a couple of pages and is not really given any importance but the message it sets out is very clear and very important for all to remember - love yourself, the good things and the flaws, and that is all the love you need.
  3. Characters --- I like the fact that the author kept her characters real - more gray than black and white. They had their plus points but they surely had their negatives - this made it a somewhat relatable read.
WHAT I DISLIKED:
  1. Too Much Branding --- the protagonist kept bringing up different brands and after a while it was just too much - it's a book, give us the story and not a refresher course in brands
  2. Clichéd Plot --- the plot lacks any punch and is clichéd. Two lovers, villain (turned around at the end of the book), a helper that brings them together and of course a break-up in the middle somewhere - there was no originality to the plot
THE VERDICT:
If you want a cheeky romance - pick up the book
If you want to read something that tickles your funny bones - definitely pick it up
But if you want to read a meaningful plot and character driven book - this one's not for you
Though I would definitely ask you to pick it up once for the fun part of it. It is definitely a good, fast paced, light read if read between two heavy books. And even though the English is not of highest order, it's rather 'hinglish', simple but grammatically correct - so that's another plus there.

READ, IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Fun and Quirky Read
  • Light and Fast Paced Book
  • A Brush-up on your Brand Knowledge

In the end, I wish the author success in all her future endeavors and thank her once again for trusting me with her book.

It was a bittersweet journey. Almost three years into our marriage, we started thinking about starting a family, I had my health issues to take care of, my college was about to end, I was running around for placements, clearing all levels before the HR round, facing rejection because I was a married woman. Amidst all this, I had started my treatment for Thyroid and PCOD. And because of these issues, I knew conceiving might not be easy for me and some medical intervention might be required. My gynaec wanted to run some tests but they had to be done on certai

India saw sati pratha and it sees female infanticide and but it has also given birth to women like Rani Lakshmibai, Kiran Bedi and Chanda Kochar. We have often heard the saying that behind every successful man is a woman who supports him. But today the dimensions are changing and in 2017, successful is a word that is associated not only with men, but women too - because today women are not content with ju
